Host/Hostess - Main role

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and personable individual to join our team as a Host/Hostess at our esteemed restaurant. In this role, you will play a crucial role in welcoming guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a seamless dining experience for all our patrons. Your ability to project warmth, professionalism, and efficiency will be instrumental in setting the tone for a memorable dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the guests names! We have lots of repeat guests and they love it when we know who they are
  • Answer phones courteously and professionally, taking reservations and providing accurate wait times
  • Efficiently manage reservations, ensuring accurate seating arrangements and accommodating special requests
  • Seamlessly handle take-out orders, entering them into the POS system and communicating order details to the kitchen
  • Greet and welcome guests warmly, creating a positive first impression
  • Effectively manage the floor plan, seating guests in a timely manner while maintaining a comfortable dining atmosphere
  • Control the pacing of seating to ensure a smooth flow of guests and avoid overcrowding
  • Maintain a clean and organized guest waiting area
  • Handle customer inquiries and requests promptly and professionally
  • Work as part of a team to provide exceptional customer service throughout the restaurant

SERVER

  • Greet and welcome guests warmly and professionally
  • Provide warm friendly, and professional services fit for fine dining setting
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
  • Provide excellent customer service by being attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful
  • Comfortable with executing table side food service for select dishes
  • Comfortable selling, describing and opening bottles of wine in front of guests
  • Upsell food and beverage items to increase sales
  • Handle customer complaints in a courteous and professional manner
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining area
  • Work as part of a team to provide excellent service

Qualifications

  • This is the secondary role - starting at 1-2 days per week as needed
  • Experience in fine dining or upscale casual dining preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for up to 10 hours

These are the base roles for the position. There will be other opening and or closing duties assigned. This is not meant to be an all inclusive list of what you will be doing. We are a small team and we all win by pitching in.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for hospitality

· Ability to project a friendly and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment

· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

· Proficient in utilizing POS systems and reservation software

· Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

· Ability to stand for extended periods and walk for long distances

· Must be able to lift and carry trays weighing up to 50 pounds
