But that’s not always possible, even if our lawyers work their best. Companies often have employees they consider unstable and/or employees who believe they have unfairly been denied certain rights. Sometimes these people have legitimate grievances and sometimes they’re full of entitlement, demanding respect. It happens more times than I would care for; our clients rely on lawyers who understand their perspective, the delicate situations and have a compassion for workers. This emotional connection doesn’t interfere with our lawyers making clearheaded decisions on a technical level. If we’re defending the right thing we have the strength of knowledge to back up what we are telling the workers, but with some of them are still feeling vulnerable, they’d rather trust someone that they see as more relatable and less judgmental on a first pass view – a good, empathetic employee experience makes better for retention, but it needs legal backing by the company to ensure the future doesn’t look overbearingly grey.

Section: My opinion – Love/Love for it Hear me out as I tell you, this issue gets my lawyer side all fired up – representing companies under the firelight during Labour Disputes can be quite challenging indeed; I must say we lawyers hate being asked these questions when we see the client with unethical behaviour; not only is it frustrating, but it gives a false air of victory to the complainants on one end who usually just throw around vague terms in an uninformed manner or on the other we know if they’re genuine, they just deserve what their going through as a human right that no job should be able to get in the way of it and yes our hearts might go out for a certain worker but ultimately they also need a job for that worker. The same way I can relate, and have been through similar experiences as someone like them when life has given me its fair share of blows, and yes it was a humbling and eye opening experiences in our field; and yet, if it came down a to hard choice, we lawyers would choose for them for their wellbeing not to make ourselves look good; you could see our lawyer side kick in, ready take this fight into court and defend this man against the accuser(s) even when it feels right
