That, is what happened recently, to one small business in our neighborhood who had the misfortune of being “blacklisted” without any legal justification. “When someone doesn’t respect my client—the smallest small business, no less!—when all I ask them is fairness, I will fight! Yes, you’ll fight too!” In many ways, this is precisely what happened for this business. They knew better than to deal with unscrupulous people but still took that shortcut because of financial needs. To their shock (and the neighborhood’s disappointment), this move ultimately hurt not just them but everyone, since they were “blacklisted.”
If a person isn’t responsible for an event, then shouldn’t their right of representation include the option for forgiveness for the incident without being excluded completely? In this situation, it seems that all was forgiven for everyone except the contractors themselves. How unfair. The business in this instance did what we all should do if we find ourselves being blacklisted—stop engaging in any form of transaction with anyone until things rectified or the case settled, for our good and their reputation’s!
